We love connecting with our guests at Motion Bar & Grill. You asked for some quick, healthy lunch options and we listened! We put the challenge to our Executive Chef, Peter Iwanczyk to create a 5, 10, 20 menu crafted around our locally sourced produced.
So.. we got the timer out and took some snapshots of Chef as has created a delicious ‘Chicken Salad, Conchiglie Pasta, Broccolini, Vine Ripened Tomato and Bell Pepper’ that he whipped up in under 5 minutes… we even taste tested it and it is simply satisfying!
Make sure you check out our delicious 5, 10, 20 menu on our Menus page and drop in to taste test on your next lunch break!

The Melbourne Cup has a rich and interesting history dating back to the inaugural event in 1861. Back then a coat stand marked the winning post, bets were made and paid for with bottles of rum and the prize was 710 gold sovereigns. Today the race is held over the traditional two-mile cup distance and is the richest and most prestigious “two-mile” handicap in the world.
To celebrate the race that stops the nation, we will be hosting a fabulous lunch with hot and cold seafood, a dessert buffet, and lucky door prizes. We’ve moved past the days of rum. Lunch will include a 3 hour drinks package so you can enjoy a glass of bubbles with your bets.
The Melbourne Cup is on Tuesday November, 6. Tickets are $130pp and can be booked by calling 07 3303 8054.
My childhood memories of Christmas always involve food: platters of chilled prawn and crab, turkey and honey glazed ham, and of course rich Christmas pudding and custard. I always associated Christmas food with family, lazy afternoons by the pool, and long dinners with friends.
At the beginning of December I would start craving all the Christmas goodies I knew were waiting. It was exciting to get gifts, but eating food we usually wouldn’t eat at any other time of the year was even more exciting than what lay under the tree. It was always disappointing when Christmas ended and we had to say goodbye to big lunches and long dinners.
This year at the Brisbane Marriott we are making the joy of Christmas food and time with the family stretch throughout the season. Christmas food shouldn’t just be for Christmas Eve or Christmas day. We have bought the excitement of Christmas dining into November with our Pre-Christmas menu. Enjoy traditional Christmas turkey and Christmas pudding with cinnamon ice-cream or try something different with seared Atlantic salmon followed by a champagne pannacotta.
Our pre-Christmas menu starts at $55 for two courses or $65 for three and includes a glass of sparkling Australian wine or draught beer. Lunch is served from 12-2pm and dinner from 6-10pm.
”There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to te ceremony known as afternoon tea.” Henry James
High Tea at Motion Bar & Grill has always been exceptional, with the delicate finger sandwiches, fresh baked scones and petite pastries. It is a tradition that dates back to the early 19th century when the 7th Duchess of Bedford used to enjoy tea and a light snack in the late afternoon to tide her over until dinner. This trend then caught on with other social hostesses and before long all of fashionable society were sipping on tea and nibbling on sandwiches in the middle of the afternoon.
On weekends, we are now adding the unique touch of a tea buffet to compliment Motion’s High Tea. Guests can enjoy a selection of Ronnefeldt loose leaf tea served in delicate bone china with assorted hand crafted biscuits and biscotti. Established in 1823, Ronnefeldt harvest their tea from all around the world, hand picking the buds and leaves. Some of the delicious flavours include Moroccan Mint, Fancy Sencha, Jasmine Gold and traditional favourites like Earl Grey and English Breakfast.
High Tea is served daily from 11:30am-4pm with the tea buffet available on Saturday and Sunday only. Prices range from $40 for the Australian Sparkling Wine high tea or $50 for the French Champagne high tea. For bookings call 07 3303 8034.
Stake out your spot, get ready to be amazed and look to the sky for the Festival’s closing night extravaganza, Sunsuper Riverfire on Sat 29th September.
To celebrate, Motion Bar & Grill is offering pre and post fireworks specials;
-
Steamed asian pork buns with toasted sesame – $5 for 2
-
BBQ chicken skewers with spiced tomato – $5 for 4
-
250GM Porterhouse steak with salad $20
-
Tap Beers from $4
The fireworks light up the sky at 7pm. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Tonight I’m taking a more relaxed approach to life. After spending the day shopping in the city and nibbling on all the food on offer at the Eagle Street Pier Markets, the last thing I feel like is a big dinner or a busy night.
Instead, I’m spending my evening in the soft chairs in the hotel lobby which is calm and quiet on a Sunday evening. Accompanied by good book and glass of shiraz, I couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. The restaurant has a selection of breads and tastings for me to snack on during the night: garlic chilli prawns, steamed asian dumplings and duck spring rolls.
The night slips by slowly, the candles on the deck get smaller and my eyes grow heavier. I finish off the evening with dessert; the warm sticky date pudding and a mug of hot chocolate, two treats which I always find impossible to resist. The hot chocolate finally makes it impossible to stay awake any longer and I head upstairs to bed, after all I have to save my strength if I’m going to tackle the buffet breakfast in the morning.
